I first became seriously interested in art when I was walking along the streets of Seattle with my lovely wife, and came upon an oil painting in the window of an art store. I was so taken with the painting, that I telephoned the artist (Leon Derbyshire) to inquire about taking lessons, as I learned he had a teaching studio. I took instruction from him for a period of two years, and continued to paint in that medium for a few more years.
One day, I tried a new medium (Watercolors). This medium was hard to control, and the finished product resulted in a very pale painting. I later took some watercolor lessons from Northwest area artists as well as National artists, and began to appreciate Watercolors. Eventually, Watercolors became my preference. My main interest in painting is to explore the and use various techniques, such as realism, expressionism, semi-abstract, abstract, etc.
I have painted in many styles throughout the years. My working method is sketching on location, then bringing it back to my studio to paint. This way I use my own colors and imagination to make the paining my own interpretation.
I am now in my early 90s, in excellent health and continue to paint on a daily basis. It is my passion!
